F elix M oore, ’07, will teach again th is y ear at C olum bia College, M ilton, O regon. Benj. W . G rout will not re tu rn to college before the o p ening of the sec ond sem ester. M iss B ertha E llsw o rth S later has re signed her position in the E nglish de p a rtm e n t and will be m arried in Octo-» ber. G ordon C. M oores, '08, is coaching the football team of C olum bia U n iv e r sity, P o rtlan d . H e is also a tte n d in g the O regon law school. C larence W healdon, 10, leader of last y e a r’s negative debate team , has entered the U n iv ersity of M ichigan. A t the last m eeting of the B oard of R egents, forty acres of land was p u r chased and added to the cam pus of the U niversity. T h is m ore th an doubles the original size of the cam pus. T h ir ty four acres of the new ly acquired land is located on the west side of the car line along U n iv ersity A venue. It is know n as the G ross A ddition, is all high, sightly land and im m ediately a d joins the cam pus on the south. K in caid Field, the scene of so m any foot ball and track victories' was also p u r chased. \\ hen this is needed for b u ild ing purposes, the stu d en t-b o d y will have to find a n o th er ath letic field. T he acquisition of the last-nam ed lots was absolutely e s sential to prevent the cam pus from in tersectio n by stre e ts and the highest p ro p o rtio n ate price was paid for them . A Big Brass Band. ( bice m ore a m ovem ent is on foot for the establishm ent of a U niversity band. A band has long been needed, and every year an a tte m p t has been m ade to establish one. T h is y ear the dem and is stro n g e r than ever, and those in terested are confident of su c cess. It is claim ed th a t th ere is a b u n dant talen t in the U n iv ersity for a tw en ty piece brass band. Such an organ izatio n would have g reat value in itself and as an ad ju n ct to the ro o t e rs ’ section at gam es and m eets. Pres. Campbell Marries. P resident Prince L. C am pbell of the U n iv ersity and M rs. Susan Camp bell C hurch were m arried in D enver d u rin g the sum m er vacation. M rs. C am pbell is well know n to the stu d e n ts from her form er connection w ith the D o rm ito ry and the L ib rary . T he P resident has been the recipient of m any h earty c o n g ratu la tio n s and w ish es for a long and happy m arried life. T h e editorial staff of the “ Siw ash C hief," the hum o ro u s publication of the U niversity of W ash in g to n have been denied readm ission by the faculty. T h e L aurean Society held a p relim inary m eeting F rid ay evening to p re pare for the w ork of the year. R outine business was tran sa cted .
