The guest of honor was Mrs. Stafford who, accompanied by Pro fessor Stafford, will leave in a few days for Europe. Professor and Mrs. Staf ford will spend next winter in Berlin. Professor E. E. DeCou spent the last part of the week in Salem. T hursday afternoon Mrs. Straub and Mrs. Stafford gave a tea from four until six o’clock to sevreal members of the Y. W . C. A. This tea was one of the series which have been given every second and fourth Saturdays by the ladies of the faculty. Each afternoon about twenty members of the Y. W . C. A. have been invited and the affairs are always very enjoyable. The piano recital given Thursday evening at Villard Hall by the School of Music and introducing the pupils of Miss W atkins and Miss Veda Ouackenbush, was greatly enjoyed. »"w Miss Gilbert and Miss Daisy Ransom, pupils of Miss Pope, assisted with the programme. W ednesday at noon the women of Eugene served lunch to the Grangers at the University gymnasium. The women were assisted by several of the students.
