Freshman was supplied with a “lib­
erty pole” whereon to ingurgitate the
class groups broke up and everyone
proceeded to “ make m erry” on the
green sward. Childhood games were
revived and the scene presented was
as of a modern dance of the nymphs.
One little incident furnished five min­
utes of lively excitement. The embers
of class enm ity between the Freshies
and Sophs broke out in a sudden burst
of flame, when some bold spirit espied
a pile of fresh-cut grass. This made
excellent confetti, and the air was
soon green with the flying grass. But
the supply was limited, and the melee
subsided as suddenly as it began. The
girls hereupon, formed a long serpen­
tine, and escorted by a parallel line of
boys, they marched in triumphal pro­
cession about the campus, dispersing
at the 11 o'clock gong to their different
classes.
The committee which arranged the
details of the hour's entertainm ent is
composed of Bert Prescott, LeRoy
Wood, Don L. Lewis, Isolene Shaver,
Mozelle Hair, Agnes Stevenson. Grov­
er Kestley, Earl Kilpatrick, Francis
O bterteuffer, Ruth Hansen. Mary De-
Bar, Wm. Wood, A rthur Van Dusen,
Cora Cameron. Carloyn Dunston, and
Sam May.
Everyone is now hoping that the
College Hour, as ushered in W ednes­
day will be a permanent addition to
the observances of the I niversity of
( )regon.
