Wistar Johnson has been selected by the faculty of the I niversity to receive the third Rhodes scholarship to Oxford from Oregon. He passed the examina s e a W illa m e tte S tre e t tion successfully last year along with three other candidates but was defeat ed in the final selection by Mr. Winans I of Willamette University. At the Spring commencement he was gradu ated, since when he has been attending the Boston Technical School, taking a course in mining engineering. As he was still eligible, the faculty committee of the University, in that he was their choice last year, extended to him their support this year, and a letter has been received from him accepting the ap pointment and stating that he will be in Eugene about July 1 to make final preparations for his departure.
