Heroes in
Homecare
Five homecare workers in our union
are doing a brand new job. For the
next four months they are participating
in an exciting program sponsored by
our International union. It’s called
2004 Heroes and their primary focus
has been visiting with homecare work
ers throughout the state talking about
the upcoming presidential election.
Tanaya Brooks, Mollala
“I love visiting co-wbrkers gnd hearing their
Homecare heroes (Left to Right): Debra Davis, Tanaya Brooks, Gus Cole, Anita
Pecoff, and Jack Davis.
stories. I also love,to share why I support John
Kerry in his race for President.' I believe he will
be the best choice for working families in
America, and especially homecare workers.”
Gus Cole, Astoria “The Heroes program asks for an
enormous commitment of time. The satisfaction of
helping union families achieve a better life is an equally
enormous reward.” .
Anita Pekoff, Bend “I am excited about being involved
with the Heroes Program because it affords me the oppor
tunity to work in politics at a grassroots level through my
union, Local 503 and my co-workerg in homecare. This
country needs a change in the Oval Office and I hope to
help make it happen!”
STRONGER TOGETHER
Debra D. Davis, Coos Bay “The Hero’s Program is the
most, exciting project that I’ve ever undertaken. It is also
one of the most rewarding. I have had the opportunity »
meet so many wonderful people in my travels, and
expand my knowledge of politics, and issues that effect
our lives in Homecare. ”
Jack M. Davis, Coos Bay “The real “Hero’s” are the
working men and women in this country. Without support
of the people, all is for naught Our job is to provide them
with information so that they can make an intelligent,
informed decision at election time. Our country will be on
the right track once our job is done.”
