Political Rebates
‘Robbing Your Wallet’
A small but growing number of
state employes are seeking rebates
for the political expenditures portion
of their fairshare contributions.
"I don’t think many of these people

“In the past, these funds have

Gallagher added. “Without these

To date approximately 200 state
employes have requested a rebate.
Over 95 percent of these have been
submitted on forms that were passed
around work areas, according to
Ralph Jull, OPEU business manager.
While the exact amount of the
rebate will not be determined until
OPEUs financial records for fiscal
1981 have been closed, Jull estimates
that individual rebates will be
between $3.50 and $3.75.
“The rebates are very small for
individuals," Gallagher said. “But if
large numbers of employes seek
rebates, they will in effect be nickel

area that can have a major impact on
their pocketbooks.”
