In the July 20 issue of The OSEA News, it was reported that OSEA Employe Representative Maria Steinhauer and Director of Field Services Gordon Webb had met with the workers in the branch office. Shortly thereafter employes went to their supervisors to have their workloads reduced to 138 cases. •• Place Label Here •• The supervisors have been real positive; there have been no repercussions, reports Curry. PHIL FEHRENBACHER Two members plan drawings for OSEA News Two state employees will regularly contribute car toons and other illustrations to The OSEA News. Mike Harr, 27, a psychiatric aide at Oregon State Hospital^ has been a member of Evergreen Chapt. 28 for almost three years. Phil Fehrenbacher, 31, is a graphic artist for the Public Utility Commission. He is a member of Willamette Chapt. 21. Harr says he is drawing posters and signs every time he gets a chance. He won a poster contest while serving with the Army in Viet Nam. Recently he has also been painting showroom win dows.When not working at the hospital or drawing, he enjoys following professional sports, playing the guitar, watching movies and reading science fiction. Eventually, he plans to draw a cartoon strip for the OSEA News. “The things you can do with a comic strip are endless,” he says. Harr, his wife and daughter, live in Aumsville. Fehrenbacher also was in the Army as an illustrator for two years and another two years in Army in- teligence. He had three years of training in an ad vertising art school and has attended Portland State University and Mt. Hood Community College. He has been doing freelance work for eight years and has had drawings published in “Pensee” magazine in Portland and political cartoons in the Oregonian newspaper. ®SE^ The OSEA News is published every three weeks by the Oregon State Employes Association, a public employe labor organization. All the same, “it has been hard for employes to take that step,” said Curry. “They were not going with the flow. There was no feeling before of how it would work.” Meanwhile, in the West Eugene Adult and Family Services branch office, OSEA members there are working closely with OSEA Employe Representative June Wissmath to have the 138 caseload added to their work plans.
