Civil Service Rules Clarified at Dammasch CSEICO SETTLES CLAIMS QUICKLY AFTER OCTOBER "BIG BLOW" An early February meeting was held at Dammasch State Hospital under the sponsorship of Dammasch Chapter No. More than 500 claims against damage from the October 12 wind in the Salem and Portland areas have been paid by the Civil Service Employees Insurance Company, according to Insurance Serv ices Manager Don Olds. Additional claims are reaching the company to the tune of 7 per week. Company spokesmen estimate that about 75 per cent of the total will be settled by the end of January. The CSEICO-Gram, the publication of Civil Service Employees Insurance Company, stated in its November 19 issue that the heaviest concentration of losses was in the Salem and Portland areas. A team of adjusters was sent to each city to assist local adjusters in working out settlements for damage sus tained for the most part by dwellings. These adjusters were on the job in the Salem offices of OSEA Services, Inc., prior to the arrival of other out-of-state personnel in Oregon to assist other com panies. While actual dollar settlements are not available at this time, CSEICO re vealed that its maximum possible com bined loss on dwelling losses under its catastrophe loss treaty with its reinsur ance company would be but $120,000. In other words, the insurance company carries insurance itself!
