I 17 Places to Go And Things to See W e are indebted to the T ra v e l In form ation D epartm ent of the O regon fetate H ig h w ay Com m ission for the fo llo w in g data r e g a r d i n g com ing events in O regon w h ich w e hope w ill be found in terestin g to the m em bers and others. W e quote from their press release as follow s: “ N e a rly 150 entertainm ent events ran gin g from festiv als and beauty pageants to round-ups and fish ing derbies are scheduled during O regon’s 1949 tourist season, the O regon state h ig h w a y com m ission tra v e l in form a tion departm ent reported this w eek. “ Through cooperation of cham bers of com m erce and kind red groups, events h ave been listed for e v e ry sec tion of the state. T he list w as ca re fu lly checked for accu racy, but dates are subject to change afte r release. “ O regonians and ou t-o f-sta te v is i tors h ave a w id e choice of attractions from w h ich to supplem ent sigh t-see ing in O regon’s cool green playlands from the seashore to eastern O regon and from the C olum bia riv e r to the C alifo rn ia state line. “ A m ajor centennial, to be observed during the year, celebrates 100 years of progress at Forest G ro v e for the P acific U n iversity. A num ber of spe cial events are planned during the year, clim axed b y a Septem ber p a geant. “ The P endleton R ound-U p, re g a rd ed as a national institution, this year w ill present its th rillin g program from A u g u st 24 to 27, a departure from its form er dates du rin g Septem ber. O ther round-ups and rodeos, esp ecia lly over the 4th of J u ly h olidays, are on the list throughout th e sum m er and fall. The B e a v e r S tate w ill p la y tribute to the b ea u ty of its youn g w om en at the Miss O regon p ageant at Seaside J u ly 22-24. T he w in n er w ill rep resent O regon at the M iss A m erica p ageant in A tla n tic C ity.
