Your correspondent threatened to buy another package before the day was out and not tell anyone about it. (P.S. I did on the way home after work.) Jack’ Norton, genial .president of Chapter No. 30, is the proud recipient of a beautiful croquet set won as a prize in a s|°gan contest conducted by a Portland community known as the Upper Sandy district. While Jack was on his vacation, we e ailed him at 8 o’clock one morning and asked him if we could come out f o r a game of.crp-, quet on his front lawn. Censor rules forbid us to tell you what he said! Sincere condolences are extended Wilbur Breedlove, G.I. self -employed Section, at the recent passing of his father. Another newlywed in our midst is Bob Butler, G.I. adjustment unit, who, with his bride, Frances, are honey mooning at Depoe Bay and other coast points. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Butler! Marge Sandberg, good-looking switch board operator, is now a receptionist for radio station KALE. Grayes,. chief deputy; Mildred Reed, switchboard operator; Willis Cady, claims deputy, and Floyd ("Mac” ) McKean, G.I. adjuster. "Mac1’ went fishing around the Puget Sound area and later at Nehalem. He reports good luck at both places. "Mac” told this correspondent that he would like to register a complaint against the fellow who always wants to bring along fish ing equipment when he goes on a fishing trip. "Who wants to fish on a fishing trip!” queried McKean with great-gpstb. Chuck Fullerton, formerly deputy in charge of veterans’ claims,, is now in charge of the Coos Bay unemployment office; Gordon DeCoss, G.I.R.A. sec tion, . is. taking Chuck’s place tempor arily; Willard Lawless, former deputy in G.I. vet’s allowance, is now in the central office in charge of self-em ployed vet claims. Robert Hecker, clerk in the unem ployment compensation office, recently took over new duties in the welfare division. Good luck, Bob! Jane Herman, G.I. clerk, took a "vacation” recently. It seems that Jane is active in Grant high school sorority and club affairs. Reason? One of her daughters, Bonnie, is a student there.
