However, Chapter No. 2 has not been altogether idle during the past' two nipnths. Members, w ith their families and friends, gathered on March 14 for a potluck- dinner. Friends from C o q u il|| chapter came over! A fter dinner For rest Stewart told us about legislative happenings of interest, which, of course, are all history now. The evening was spent in dancing and visiting. I On April'IjLth, the chapter met with about 20 members present. A very in teresting, and we believe enlightening, discussion was had concerriing the nfew civil service ratings and the great in equalities in some positions. A commit tee was appointed to draft.-vand send' a letter to Mr. Stewart concerning some specific ratings: urging speed in adjustment. The chapter entered upon.a member ship drive during February tof>c'abry through the major part of the summer. We are told that quite a number of new applications are being' received The sides are under leadership of Mrs. Baker of the welfare department and Mr. Vaughn J of the fisheries department. One paving crew has started, in this district in Drain,/soon moving to Cot tage Grove. Oiling Foreman Nash* says he will be oiling soon. — C. O. fSlabaugh. BEND C H A PTER N oc 3 S. Paul Jones has- moved -his bag and bedroll to Klamath Falls, w hereyheis carrying on his duties as resident engi neer, having received a promotion from division office engineer; Johnny Stout, formerly draftsman on M artin’s location cfcew at Eugene, Ras taken up his duties as division office engineer a t Bend, which place was va cated by S. PaCul Jones. Oiling Crew No.' 2, headed by fore man Wayne W. Lithgow, is busily en gaged in duties on the circuit including part of Portland, Hood River*,' The Dalles, and points south to Redmond. Oiling crew No. 4, headed by Fore man Kirkham, made its first set-up at Lakeview and from there the itinerary for moves to Lapjne, Bend, Che- m ult and Klamath Falls.,' Bob Marlton and his paving crew are on the move, also, and are working their w,ay from Lapine, Bend, Red mond, , Madras, The Dalles, Rufus, and back to Klamath Falls for completing the season. The chapter decided to have one of those feeds of the first magnitude sq popular with all members. This is to take place June 21, and all are welcome.j The Lava :Cayes‘park, 12 mifes south of Bend, has a new caretaker, R. B. Woodcock, who is busily engaged in serving ..the touring public and dispens ing information ¿bout this section of the^state. Billie James o f Lapine was on a short vacation w ith the youngsters after their school term closed. He returned, greatly ^invigorated, after' spending a week on the d a m beaches. Marguerite Elder of the Bend B H sion office}, is well* pleased with the new fluorescent lights recently installed by the electrica'lycrew from Mr. W id- dows’ office in Salem. Resident Engineer Joseph G.
