3 The President's Message By BJARNE ERICKSEN Every Oregon State Employee As sociation member should become con versant with our legislative program which is very ably summarized else where in this issue by V. G. O’Neil, Public Relations Director. It was adopted at the General Council meet ing after careful consideration of the policies involved. We sincerely believe that it merits favorable consideration by the legisla ture as it is constructive, progressive and reasonable. We feel certain that it will receive the unqualified endorse ment of every state employees as its èbjëctives are to secure the adoption of principles and practices which have proven to be beneficial to employees of other states and private business. A t the legislature your ; Association will be represented by our Legal Coun sel, F. Leo Smith, and by our Executive Secretary, Forrest V. Stewart. They will be available to answer any questions the legislators may ask about our leg islative program and to see that they are correctly informed about it. They will also be alert to detect and inform the m e m b e r s about any legislation which would be detrimental to the wel fare of state employees. Your Director of Laws and Legisla- tion, I. A. DeFrance, and his commit tee will keep in close touch with the progress of our program. This commit tee is charged with the duty of assum ing jurisdiction over legislative matters and will act in an advisory capacity. We are very fortunate that our legislative program will be in the hands of such sincere, capable and experienced persons. The benefits to be derived from the efforts of the Association will be en joyed by every employee in the State service. You should, therefore, contact non-members and secure their active and financial support through member- sh ip .I sincerely believe that every con tractive thinking state employee would be anxious and proud to affiliate with the Association if he were informed about our policies and objectives.
