THE DALLES CHAPTER No. 9
We sort of came apart at the seams
at our July meeting, only four members
present. We made a lot of noise any
way—looked for the dog catcher to
show up while we were having a session
at the piano.
Next on the list was a picnic at
Bear Springs, August 11. We had a
good turnout, with several newcomers,
and we hope they will become regulars.
Hank Simms of the Salem shops came
through on his old horse, checking
equipment. Hank lost his hat at Dufur.
Eleven members were present at the
August 24 meeting. Nevertheless, it
was a good meeting.
Leo Ordway is making his annual
tour gathering beer bottle caps.
Maybe this chapter should buy an
old jalopy, so that the President and
Secretary could tour the district and
visit the sick folks. There must be lots
of sickness around here, as the mem
bers don’t get out to meetings.

JO H N DAY CHAPTER No. 13
Walt Greene’s oiling crew, Chuck
Hedrick’s patching crew, and Ollie
Jones’ shovel crew have come and gone.
We miss them, but they got away just
in time, as we are experiencing some
real Willamette Valley weather.
