Bill Sellwood, Jr. returned to work
March 1 after having served 49 months
in the Marine Corps. Bill took active
part in four major campaigns in the
Pacific area.
Bus Gibson and his Hot Patch crew
left for Bend, April 5, to begin their
summer’s work program.
With the , repairing of oil pots for
the summer crews, one can hear the
ringing of the busy hammers in the
blacksmith shop— take your time Smi­
thies, we all know what that means.
Our congratulations go to Smoky
See and Hershel Harris and their wives
on their recent marriages— thanks for
the cigars, boys.
Art Spimey spent a few days in Eu­
gene this month.
Mr. Sayler, Director of the retire­
ment committee, gave a very thorough
discussion on the employees retirement
fund here in Klamath Falls, in the Cir­
cuit Court Room in the courthouse,
March 15, at 8:00 P.M.

JO H N DAY CHAPTER No. 13
History repeats itself. About a year
ago we wrote in this column that patch­
ing, oiling, shovel and bridge crews,
and, last but not least, logging trucks,
were contributing to the headaches of
our District Maintenance Superintend­
ent, Vic Coffey. The first three are
rapidly descending upon him again,
while the last two are with him always.
Joe Clark, scale house specialist, has
just completed a fine new scale house
at John Day.
T /5 Sgt. Norman Watkins, former
truck driver at Hereford, has been dis­
charged from the Army Engineers af­
ter some three years* service in the
South Pacific. He visited here a few
weeks. T /5 Sgt. Hubert L. Watkins,
former truck driver in the bridge crew,
is still in Germany. They are sons of
Ed Watkins, Hereford motor grader-
man.
CRATER LAKE CHAPTER No. 16
P. W. Stevenson, carpenter with
James Bedingfield’s bridge crew, is in
Grants Pass convalescing from an in­
jury suffered at Elkton some time ago.
While here, Mr. Stevenson is spending
his time trying to catch a few fish.
Leo Kerber and crew are in this lo­
cality patching the highways of this
district.
