EUGENE CHAPTER No. 6
" Watch Eugene Grow”
No, we haven’t folded up, just re
cuperating from the recent flood. Now
we can concentrate on membership. We
have increased from 49 to 62 members
and are still growing. We will settle
for 100% membership.
Vern Sherrett, bridge foreman, is
spending his week-ends lately on the
Umpqua. He’s a brute for punishment,
but he has caught one nice Chinook
salmon that we know of.
Our chapter secretary, Chas. Thorn
ton, commutes between Eugene and
Portland, due to the housing situation
in Eugene.
Every chapter has someone that can
be depended upon to furnish good cof
fee, etc., at the meetings. We are thank
ful for our "Rudie” Siegmund. A t our
last meeting he changed from coffee
to Sanka, and no one could tell the dif
ference.
Members of the Association, and
highway employees who were in the
armed forces, but who have returned
to the Department in the past few
months, include the following: Chas.
Maxwell, John Adams, Virgil Brown,
Donald Hardcastle, Walter Wright,
Marion A. Janes, Melvin R. King and
Earl Calkins.
Earl Calkins, computer for Umph-
lette, has moved to Swisshome and is
now working as helper on the mainte
nance crew.
Leo Ordway of Salem No. 1 was a
visitor at our last meeting.

mer members of the Association, are
