come, see, listen, and find out for your
self.
This will also be our annual election
meeting and all Chapter members
should be present to help choose good
officers for the 1946 term. We shall
have need for good leadership during
the coming year and you should select
your officers carefully, and then give
them your every support.
The following members have been
chosen by our President Mr. French to
serve on the Nominating Committee,
Roy W. Petterson, Chairman, Edward
S. Bittman, and Harry T. Umbach.
Acting under authority of President
De France, Allen French, President of
Chapter 17 and Eloise Douglas, Secre
tary, and Ivan Dakin, President Rose
City Chapter, and C. D. Haynes, Secre
tary Rose City Chapter, met and nom
inated the following for the positions
of District Director and Alternate Dis
trict Director—-Harry C. Broadwell of
Rose City Chapter, and Dave Bryant,
of Chapter 17.
Now that the vacation season is over
we can all settle down to serious busi
ness, and do great things for our Chap
ter.
CAPITOL CHAPTER No. 19
After benefitting by delivery of the
goods at our last two meetings, the
membership is beginning to properly
appreciate the program-arranging abil
ity of Esther Hilmer and the culinary
and serving skill of Mrs. Perry, Vivian
Hinkle, Mrs. Simpson, and Florence
Ames. A kitchen doesn’t scare these
charming and accomplished girls at all.
From the marvelous success at pin
ning the tail on the donkey, showing a
surprising familiarity with a mule’s
anatomy, it appears quite a few of the
members must have cultivated corn in
old Missouri with "Pop” Harland and
President Truman.
Our regular meeting is now the 3rd
Thursday in the month and permanent
meeting place, The Women’s Club.
Nominations for 1946 officers were
as follows: For President, Paul Gem-
mell, E. A. Boyle, James Young; for
Vice-President, E. A. Boyle, Esther
Hilmer, C. V. Richardson; for Sec.-
Treas., G. E. Hollowell.
To one who never wears a smile,
And to God Sourpuss is a slave,
I offer free this sound advice,
"You’re asking for an early grave.”
