at the Emmanuel Hospital, Portland,
Oregon, is in the Nurses Cadet Corps.
S. G. Hingle, Jr., son of S. G. H in­
kle, Sr., of the SI AC Claims Division,
completed his Basic Training at Camp
Swift, Texas, March 3, and is now
waiting for his assignment.
"Larry” Blaisdell of Claims, SIAC,
reports on his two sons:
"Lt. Laurence M. Blaisdell has been
in the Army since February, 1942, with
the A nti-airéraft Artillery. He has been
with General Hodges’ First Army since
landing in Normandy, and was in most
of thé major battles in France. He was
in Aachen at the time, of the Nazi
break-through in December ârtd saw
several days of tough fighting at that
time.
Lt. Don Blaisdell is in the Army Air
Corps, and has been in the Ferry Com­
mand. For the past two years, he has
ferried planes to England, Africa, Per­
sia and as far as Calcutta, India, across
the Atlantic Ocean, with one trip to
Australia across the Pacific. He has
just been transferred to California and
his future missions will be across the
Pacifie.”
Ted Peerenboom of the. Fiscal Con­
trol Division, SIAC, was honored by
a visit from his son, Cpl. Raymond E.
Peerenboom, radio operator-gunner on
a B-24 ,who is stationed at Walla Walla
Air Base for his final training before
leaving for overseas.
Now serving in the Pacific W ar
Theater is Cpl. Carl* S. Gretzinger,
known to Salem folks as a U.S. mail
carrier before entering the service. Cpl.
Gretzinger is a photographer and photo
Jab technician in the Army Air Corps
and now stationed in the Marianas Isl­
ands w ith our B-29 bombers.
I Mrs. Gretzinger, a former employee
of the State Unemployment Compensa­
tion Commissiorf, is now w ith the Fis­
cal Control Division of the State In ­
dustrial Accident Commission.
Wm. Morely of the Fiscal Control
Division, SIAC, enjoyed a surprise visit
from his daughter, Ellen, serving in
