45 ployed for a year in the office at Burns for J. D. Walker, entered Cadet Nurses Training February 3 at Pendleton. James "Jack” Baker, M.M. 3/c, son of Arley Baker of West Stayton, is somewhere in the Pacific. Before en listing in the Seabees tw o years ago he was with the Highway Department at Marshfield. Another son of Mr. Baker, Eugene, is in the N avy -in the, Pacific theater. Before entering the service Eugene was with the Highway D epartment’s patch crew at. Eugene. Marion J. Van H om , C .M .'2 /c , a former Highway Department employee at Alsea, is now stationed -at Camp Parks, California. He has received sev eral copies of pur magazine and enjoys reading them. Marion says that as soon as he is released from the service we can expect another active member in the Association. Albert Dralle, who was employed with the Highway Department at Elk ton before entering the service, is now stationed someplace in Holland. Dade, son of Lester R. Dade of Cheshire, successfully has com pleted his single-engine fighter pilot training at the army air forces ad vanced flying school, Luke Field, A ri zona. A t graduation ceremonies re cently he received the air corps silver wings and was commissioned a second lieutenant. Maurice received his pilot training at various fields in the AAF western fly ing training command, including Santa Ana," Blythe and Merced, California. Before his appointment as 'an avia tion cadet, he attended Junction City high school and Pasadena Junior col lege. H e was active in basketball both in high school and college.' D uring his military career he | also has been sta tioned at Sheppard Field, Texas and La Grande, Oregon. He now is await ing final specialized 'training and as signment.
