A short business meeting was held; then, Mr. Leo Smith, State Representa tive, talked for 30 minutes on the Merit System and Civil Service for State Em ployees. A fter his talk, Mr. Smith answered many questions from the members. This was a very interesting and instructive talk and I believe we now have a better understanding of what we are working for. Two motion pictures of exceptional interest were presented by Mr. Purser, Public Relations Director for Alumin um Corporation of America; Mr. Jar rett, Manager of the Vancouver Divi sion, Portland General Electric Co., and Mr. Roth, Supervisor of Line Con struction, Portland General Electric Company. We are very grateful to them for their time and effort in en tertaining the Chapter. O ur thanks to Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Tandy and Mrs. Dakin, who served coffee and doughnuts at the close of the meeting. The Rose City Chapter meets the third Friday of each month in the Red Men Hall, East 9th and Hawthorne Boulevard. All State Employees are invited to attend. CH A PTER N O . 6— Eugene The Eugene chapter of the Oregon State Employees Association held a din ner and dance Tuesday evening at the W OW Hall, w ith wives of state em ployees as dinner hostesses.. More than a hundred were present. Musical numbers were provided for entertainment throughout the dinner. The committee consisted of Mr. and Mrs, T. R. Piper, Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Sherrett, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Siegmund, Mrs. Frank Kimball, Mrs. George Bamhardt, and O ta B. Smith. Musical numbers were by Misses Elaine White, Nadine Ashworth, Helen Fade's Coffee Shop Virgil £ .
