Bolton, I am writing to this tribe to hope that this letter may be forwarded to the tribal historian, archive/library, newsletter, newspaper, veterans association or even placed on a tribal halls bulletin board so ?native people can respond to my inquiry. I am an American Indian researching the native experience during World War II and would like to hear from native people who can relate memories from this er a . A wide range of experience is needed and I would welcome responses who were mixed blood, if multiple tribal heritage's, adoptee's,.boarding school resi dents, assimilated or traditional, descended from state recognized or petitioning status tribes. The responde's need not have been tribally enrolled the 1940s. This inquiry does not exclude persons from feder ally recognized nations as well. Ultimately, I would like to preserve this research in the form of an article, book or donate the information to a WW II archive or native American library. If you fit the following criteria please contact me at this address enclosed. If you are a friend, survivor or descendant of native American who would have had W.W.II stories to share, I would like to hear from you. . Criteria: Any American Indian man or woman in any branches of the armed ser vices, state national guard or merchant marine. The w o m e n b r a n c h ' s were the ANC, NNC, WAC, WASP,/WAFS,. and SPARS. , Anyone affibiabed with the civil air patrol, USO, red cross./ iSolationist/peace movements, civil defense, draft board, defense industries, women's police or fire brigade auxiliaries, or any other volunteer organization associated with the war effort. Were you involved with the advocacy for native civil rights on the home front? Did you participate, in the war bond rallies, scrap drives or grow a victory garden ? Did you work in agriculture, resource management, ■ hospitals' •'•or- ’ the media ’(' -newspaper or radio etc.) during the war years ? Anyone wanting to share memories of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, VE day, VJ day or of native childhood during the war is appreciated. For any native American who remembers the FDR radio speech on the declaration of war with Japant What were your thoughts and memories of that dad ? .I. would like to bedr- from any native American affiliated with the camps set up for 'Japdn'eSd-’'Ameri cans and Axis POWs. Are you someone who either as a soldier or red cross worker saw duty with the Allied occupation Forces at the end of the war ? Are their any American women who were Rosie T-hefRiveter? Any Xerox's of articles on this tribes experiences during'W.-Wh'lT ’ (i . e . 1940) would be appreciated. For the purpose of this project if your a native person who knew a native Hawaiian, Metis, Taino j o f -Chamorro person during the coarse of W.W.II - then let me know about them as well.
