9999ST1999 SILETZ CULTURAL DAY CAMP AUG. 13-15,1926 SILETZ TRIBAL COMMUNITY CENTER SPONSORED DEPT. IN LOVING MEMORY George Muschamp Sr. On behalf of George Muschamp SR. I would like to thank all those who gave u s support in so many .ways. The loss of a loved one is very difficult. But we felt very comforted knowing so many cared. W e were very honored that Elouise Case lead the prayer and were very warmed that Dancing Again Singers d rum m ed so beautifully. Grandpa I know w as very pleased. I would like to end with a poem a friend of Grandpas, Dave, wrote in his memory. ’’Letting G o” Love Means Never Having to Say Good-bye Sometimes letting go is easy, especially if we are willing Sometimes letting go is hard; especially when we are not willing. Is it selfishness, or self-centeredness, or just our unwillingness to accept Gods will for us? Why is it that we like to hold on so much to those people, places and things that our Creator doesn't want us to hold on to? Why do I think that I am so much better, because I don't want to let go just yet? This is a perfect example o f powerlessness in it's purest form. Why can’t I just be grateful for the gift o f my friend in my life? He was always there when I needed him, and I always tried to be there when he needed me. We shared so many good times together, We laughed and joked together, here in Oregon, to California, and back to Oregon again. We shared our experiences, our strengths, our hopes and our recovery together. Our lives were intertwined with that of a Loving God, He was truly a Treasured and Cherished Friend, like no other I have ever known or had in this lifetime. He was family, the father & brother I never had; He was a playmate, a companion, an example, an Inspiration, But most of all we, George & I, were partners, in this thing called life, and recovery. The Creator needs my Partner George to come home and be with Him. Now that his journey is finished here, another is about to begin. It's time to let you go for now, You'll be in that special place in my heart, . - but i w ilf never saygood-bye. BY THE CULTURAL We will be hosting a 3 day Cultural Camp on Government Hill from Aug. 13-15, 1996. Cultural activities will include Elder's panel, basket making, shell necklace making, athabascan language introduction, flint knapping, inter-tribal dancing, etc. Some teepees will be available, on a first come first serve basis, so still bring your camping gear. Meals will be provided. Families are encouraged to attend. The youth are encouraged to attend, but will not - be able to Stay overnight without an adult chaperone, pre-arranged by the Cultural Staff. No alcohol or drugs are allowed. This is not a part of our culture, therefore individuals will be removed from the premises. No exceptions. If you would like to attend, participate in any capacity, or have any suggestions, please call the Cultural Dept. at 1 (800) 922-1399 Ext. 244 or 246 or 444-8244 or 444-8246. Volunteers are needed to help make this encampment a successful one, we look forward to hearing from you! He’s on Fire!!!! A Parrish Little League All Star had po fear In Sunday's BIG second round match against the rivaling Keizer All Star Team. The tournament Is looking good for Parrish thanks to their star, Kyle Kesslnger. He had an explosive offensive day for Parrish. Kyle went 2 for 3 with a double and. single, 3 RBI's and two stolen bases. The final score was 6-4 P arrish. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS goes to Kyle Kesslnger and good luck for the rest of the tournament...... With Lots of Love, Mom, Dad, & Brother Congratulations to Randy Kessinger Jr. A twelve year congratulations is needed to a son and brother who has made his family very proud. This North Salem High graduate will be attending Western Oregon State College this fall majoring In business. You've always made us proud In the past and we know you will do well In your future! So, good luck, Randy Kesslnger, Jr. Love, Dad, Mom, Kyle, Korlsa & Shatara Kyle Downey Ran to Success Congratulations to 10 year old Kyle Downey, son of Patrick Downey. In celebration of the 1996 Summer Olympics, students of Siletz School attempted to run# the distance to Atlanta. Since it w as not possible for Kyle to run after school, all his r u n n i n g had to be done during recess. Kyle won the competition running 72 miles, or 360 laps around the fo otball field! 7
