Chuvonne Williams is Awarded the Sharon Butler Memorial Scholarship In Hobtng jfflemor? George Morgan ;ftflu£rf)atnp George Morgan Muschamp, age 71 years of Siletz, Oregon died, at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Oregon on June 9, 1996. He was bom in St. Louis, Missouri on December 11, 1924 to George and Edna Mae Hatfield Muschamp. He had been a resident of Siletz for the past 55 years. He married Tribal member Gladys BenseU in Albany, Oregon on March 16, 1946. He had worked security, and as a truck driver and driver for the Senior Citizens Bus. He was a member of AA. He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Siletz; sons, George Muschamp, Jr. and Jack Muschamp both • of Siletz; brother, Wesley Muschamp of St. Louis, MO.; sisters, Ann O'Keefe and Edna Reaper both of St. Louis, MO., Pat Warden of Newburry Park, CA; grandchildren, Clint Muschamp, Marci Garrett and Holly John; great grandchildren Brandon Larrabee and Maranda Garrett. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, June 12, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. at Paul Washington Cemetery in Siletz, Oregon. Prayer was given by Elouise Case and the music was performed by the Dancing Again Singers. Pall Bearers were: Wesley Muschamp, Jack Muschamp, Randy Garrett, George Muschamp Jr., Clint ~ Muschamp, and Kevin Strickler. George always took the time for conversation, a quick "hello" and a chuckle or two. When he drove the seniors bus he had the patience required to make everyone comfortable and those on the bus appreciated his wit and kindness. He will be missed. ' (Sodr C o ngratulations to Chuvonne Williams thls year's winner of the annual Sharon Butler Memorial Scholarship. Chuvonne is the daughter of Roxanne and Mike Elkins. The $1,000 annually awarded scholarship which shall be payable toward rent, food, books and other living expenses was created by Ray Thomas & Ron Butler in honor of Ron's late wife, Sharon. Siletz Tribal Members who reside in Lincoln County at the time of application and are high school seniors, or have received their' GED and/or have taken some college credits (so long as they have earned no more than 36 credits by July 1st) are all eligible to apply; for this award. Applicants must plan on attending any accredited college with the goal of a two or four year degree. The scholarship is administered by a committee that holds fund raisers to perpetuate the scholarship such as blanket dances, BINGO benefits, etc. Chuvonne is a dedicated, hard working young lady. We know that we'll be hearing even more good things about her in the future.
