JTPA NEWS If you are Native American, Alaskan or Hawaiian and are planning to apply , or are applying for jobs at Chinook Winds Gaming Carter, please call 1-800-922-1399 or 4442532. Make an appointment to attend a scheduled orientation session for the JTPA Program. You must establish eligibility with the JTPA Program in your area prior to being hired by Chinook Winds, not after you have been hired. You must provide the following items of documentation in order to be eligible for services through the JTPA Program: Tribal Identification/Ancestry Proof of residency Proof of Household Income for the last 6 months Public Assistance (GA, AFS, Food Stamps, Med Card) Selective Service Registration Birthdate and Age Social Security Card Number in the Household If you are having problems securing any of the above listed documentation, the JTPA staff will assist you in obtaining this information. If you have all o f the above documentation, please bring it with you to the scheduled orientation appointment, this will accelerate your eligibility process for the JTPA Program. First Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt Planned!!! Saturday, April 6, the day before E aster Sunday, the F irst Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Government Hill from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. It will be to stress drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free living. Sponsors will be Siletz PTA, Siletz Valley Partnership, and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program. There will be prizes, plastic Easter eggs filled with goodies, and a rally. The grounds will be divided for the different age groups: preschool, elem en tary , m iddle-school,-; and adolescent. We are looking forward to the community turning out for this great event, and hope it willl become an annual one. LANGUAGE MEETING NOTICE The Siletz Tribal Culture Committee would like to invite all tribal Elders to a language meeting in May to discuss and review language materials. The tentative date for the meeting will be on Memorial Day weekend at the Tribal Community Center. We would really like to encourage our Elders to please attend as your knowledge is very valuable to assisting us with preserving our language. We will be sending you a reminder of the confirmed time and date of the meeting in April. With the continued support of Bonnie Petersen and Dan Van Otten, we submitted our language grant proposal to the Administration for Native Americans (ANA) in March. We have been sending out letters to clients with the information that we are requesting to complete files. If the requested information is not received before the next scheduled appointment they will be unable to pickup for that month. Simmer for 30 minutes. Cook noodles as directions indicate on box. In small pan heat I can of tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce for 5 minutes. Spoon mixture into noodles: TRIBAL MEMBER BUSINESS DIRECTORY STBDCO staff are compiling a list of tribal member* who own their own businesses in an effort to promote individual tribal member self-sufficiency. Once compiled, this list will be referred to when opportunities arise. Tribal members are encouraged to contact Tina Retasket at (541) 444-1347 for a questionnaire. All information must be available for the public in order to make referrals. Tina will mail a questionnaire to you, and will compile the tribal member business list for fixture use. This list will be published in the tribal newsletter, and will be made available upon request to outside agencies and organizations. Do You Need Help With Child Care? Assistance is available to help pay for child care for Siletz Native children. Child care assistance is allowed while families participate in wellness and betterm ent activities, training, continuing education, paid and volunteer employment an d respite care. This p rogram is available to children up to the age of 13* who live in the 11 county service a rea. Incom e limits do apply and you m ust receive approval before any care is covered.
