» » » W WWW »T W W » W”W » * y r 5T May 1995 9 Coming Home Gathering The Takelma Intertribal Project extends, an Invitation to Siletz tribal members for the annual Coming Home Gathering & Salmon Ceremony May 12-14 at Applegate River In southwestern Oregon. The Salmon Ceremony will take place on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14. Descendents of Tribes relocated 150 years ago from the Rogue River and Siskiyou Mountains are especially Invited. Rogue River, Takelma, Applegate, Gallce Creek, Chetco, Tututnl, Shasta and others will participate In the eating of the first salmon. Feather dancers from Siletz & Tolowa (Smith River) will be performing. People can come on Friday, May 12, and camp,over until Monday, May 15. Some tipis will be set up for sleeping. Parking is available.. Some food will be provided, however, we need more, so bring something to eat when you come. No drugs or alcohol! The board approves selections o f Homebuyers for the Tribe's housing units and serves as the hearing board for tenants and Homebuyers who do not live up to their lease agreements and are faced with eviction. Board members have to make many difficult decisions, but they also get to play an important role in helping to meet one of the most important needs of Tribal members—decent, safe, and sanitary shelter for every family and individual. Board members have opportunities for training, usually at workshops with other Indian Housing Authorities from across country. — Point Orford Heritage Society Honoring Ceremony Please join with the Point Orford Heritage Society, the Port Orford Arts Council and friends in a ceremony to honor the old ones. We will gather with Agnes and Grant Pilgrim at the Port Orford Heads State Park on Saturday, May 20th. Fire for the salmon feast will be built at 9:00 a.m., drumming will begin at 11:00 a.m. and a potluck meal will be shared at 1:00 p.m. Please bring a dish for the potluck. A A b A A A A A A A A A A A A A Memorial Day Dinner The Sacred Lands Committee invites everyone to join us for the Memorial Day Dinner. The Dinner will be held at the Tribal Center on Government Hill after the Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 29, 1995. The Sacred Lands Committee will serve the main dish, which will be Salmon, Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, com, stew or chowder, and fiy bread.
