March 1995 M & u L e ffe w . (continued fro m p a g e 3) LETTER TO THE EDITOR: " I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to all those who voted for me. It was a rough campaign and a very close one, but I was re-elected because of the confidence you placed in me. I regret that some people had to resort to personal attacks to distort the truth and mislead our members. It's always hard to deal with such tactics. But, in the end, my constituents can share with me my pride that I adhered to my principles. I spoke out on the real issues, made no personal attacks, and refused to distort the truth. As a re-elected Council member and Vice-Chairman of the Tribe, I pledge to you, to those who voted for me as well as those who didn't, that I will continue to work diligently for the present and future welfare of the Tribe now and for the future, for our children as well as our Elders. Mom, Todd, Joseph, Kyle, Denaee* and Keshena Open Letter to the People Appalled are many, at the representation of our youth that are in distress, allowing the state to come and steal our children from our homes. As people turn their backs and hide your shame, by saying, "that's the law", awaken people, awaken you must, let us not lay dormant another generation. You must find acknowledgment that allows you to comprehend your status as a Tribal entity you are law of this land, your obligation is to the welfare of the people, no matter whom we are or our jobs, we must take our position among our peoples survival. Let it be warned, for the spirit of our people is on the return and those that refuse to accept to work for this reality, will be the ones to suffer in the end. Each and everyone of us should cry in our hearts for our youth, they are our future, pitiful people look at yourselves, feel the shame for it lays upon us all. The bitter and hate will grow in the minds of Thanks Wayne A very big "Thank You" to Wayne Case Property Procurement for taking the time out of his busy schedule to locate and donate the toys and bears for ICW. The little ones loved the bears and the toys keep them busy in our office while the parent take care of business. Keep up the good work up at "Wayne's World." Sissi Breon the abused, dare you turn on your own people, the time of redemption is coming swiftly, prepare, it is to be like the blood of the heart, that pumps to eveiy vein of the living body. The people will be awoken and it will come through the children, respect yourselves now, for later it may be to late. Stop the stealing of our children, bring them home, don't turn them away, don't forsake our future. You as a people can make change, don't depend on one person that works behind a desk, that person is only our mouthpiece to advocate our desires, so much you people must learn to once again goyem yourselves in an utmost respectful manner, allow yourself to become a nation of recognition, we must shrive for the concept of nationhood and recoil our resources, all should be concerned when it comes to our youth, the state should never hold control over any of their lives, we are no longer prisoners of war!
