Gaming Update (Continued from Page 3) COMMUNITY SUPPORT GROWS: We are fortunate that community support appears to be growing. On January 19th, the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception for the Tribal Council at the Shilo Inn, to welcome the Tribe to the community and to demonstrate it's support for the Tribe's planned gaming and convention center. The small, hard core group calling itself the Anti-Casino Association continues to try to block the Tribe's efforts. We are confident, however, that we are on sound legal footing and we are receiving increasing community support for our project. We are moving forward full speed with our plans. I would like to call your attention to a few sample letters included in the Chairman's Report which show community support for our project. TENTATIVE TIMELINES: March 3 Work commences on temporary facility ■ construction. March 25 8s 26 Personnel selections made by Tribal Council. April 10 Construction of temporary facility completed. April 10 thru April 24 Installation o f gaming equipment; snack bar, office, rest room equip ment / furnishings. April 24 thru April 28 Delivery of supplies. April 24 All personnel hired, on board and trained. May 23/24 Facility open for tribal members. May 25 Facility open to public. TEMPORARY FACILITY GAMES AND SERVICES: In addition to the 250 slots mentioned above, the temporary facility will have ten card games, Keno and pull-tabs. No off-track betting or Bingo will be played in this facility. There will February 1995 be a snack bar but no full restaurant. The temporary facility will operate for a one year period while the permanent Chinook Winds construction is underway. RECRUITMENT OF PERSONNEL CONTINUES: Anyone interested in a position with the temporary or permanent gaming center is urged to contact any of the area offices for an application. COMMUNITY AND TRIBAL SUPPORT ACKNOWLEDGED: In addition to support by the citizens of Lincoln City, we again want to acknowledge the support and encouragement we have gotten from our own Tribal members during our difficult struggle for a gaming center. The Chinook Winds Gaming and Convention Center will soon be a reality - a center that we can all be proud of, the revenues from which the Tribe and all our members will benefit! She was bom March 6, 1905 in Portland, Oregon to Charles and Inez (Chapman) Larsen. She was the granddaughter of the late Martha Jane (Hunsucker) Chapman Adams and attended school in Siletz. Ina married Charles Wilcox in 1933 in Toledo, Oregon. She was preceded in death by two sons, Lyle and Billy, a grandson, Charles "Chip" Hubbard, and a brother, Raymond Larsen. She lived in the Siletz and Toledo area up until the late fifties. From there she moved to Pittsburg, California before moving Olympia, Washington in 1989. Survivors include two sons, Sonny and Danny, Yelm, Washington; six daughters, Fran Lorello, Olympia, Washington; Betty Dotson, Cle Elum, Washington; Gerri Stratton, Centralia, Washington; Joy Stewart, Cle Elum, Washington; Ialeen Collins, Olympia, Washington; and Margaret Erickson, Tenino, Washington. One sister, Juanita Bostrom, Rainier, Oregon, 27 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held in Olympia Washington on Tuesday, December 27. 9
