PAGE 4 - SILETZv OREGON October 1990 IN MEMORIAL LENA MARY KING Lena Mary Logan King, 49, of Grand Ronde died Thursday, August 2nd in McMinnville, Oregon. A Siletz Tribal member* she was born to Elmer and Marie (Vivette) Logan on January 30, 1941 in Salem. Lena lived in the Grand Ronde area and Siletz throughout most of her life. Lena was know n fo r her participation in athletics while attending Siletz High School. She also had worked as a nurse's aide at the Grand Ronde Care Center. She is survived by her son, Wilbur Towner of Siletz; daughter Louise R. Towner of Lincoln City; mother, Marie Logan of Grand Ronde; brothers, Leonard Logan of Willamina and Elmer Logan Jr. of Grand Ronde; sisters Donna Holmes of Salem and Claudia Leno and Nelda Logan, both of Grand Ronde; and five grand children. I am a thousand winds that blow: I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. At the March 12 and April 9th Meetings o fth e Hunting and Fishing Committee, the culture’ hunt Tor 1990 was discussed. This past year p o successful culture hunt was organized. The Committee feels that this is an important ’part of the Tribes’ Culture and a positive activity for both youth and adults which in turn benefits the Elders through the contribution of the wild game taken; It also can be a lot of; fun I Children between the age of 12 and 18 need to have passed their hunters safety course and have a hunters safety card. Culture hunts need to be coordinated well in advance of the date they actually occur, so we need to start planning this as soon as possible. We need adult volunteers to help organize and take part In the hunt for this fall and we alsd need a list of Tribal youngsters who would like to participate. Those wishing to be, Jricltided;in this event must be eligible for their hunting license for 1990 and all State and Tribal hunting regulations apply. To make this a.’positive experience for our youngsters.and a successful hunt, we need your help!
