Sincerely, Todd & Iris:, Durand To the Director of Affairs: My name is Carole Walters and I presently live in California although I have been an Australian resident for the past twenty years. th e Australian people after understanding their own aboriginal culture are th u s c u r io u s and a p p re cia tiv e of o the r in d ig e n o u s c u ltu r e s throughout our world. J was recently in Australia and what I found was a great desire to learn about American Indian culture and Art. I saw in the market places all varieties of Indonesian, Oriental and African arts and crafts but I saw virtually no American Indian artwork, either In jew ellery', baske try or painting. When I spoke to Australian galleries about their lack of American Indian art threy expressed a great fascination and desire to know about the North American Indian culture. Perhaps because Australia is half way around the world no one has exposed the Australians to the Aboriginal Americans. I am c u rre n tly studying the anthropological and artistic histories of North Am erican Indian tribes. It Is my wish to see other cultures exposed to the art of the Americans so that we may enrich other peoples to a culture rich In history and values. What I propose to do is buy art produced by the people living on North American reservations and expo rt. this to reputable galleries in Australia. If there are people producing arts and crafts on your reservation or If you have significant information about your tribe that might be of interest to others, I would very much appreciate a call or a letter from you. If you are at all interested on any of these levels, please contact me. I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely, Carole Walters 1060 Danbeck Ave. Santa Rosa, CA 95404 (707) 528-7663 From Us to Y0I4: I and my family would like to take this opportunity morning, someone helped themselves to two 10-speed mountain, bikes off of our front porch.
