COUNCIL MEETINGS
$ J' A SPECIAL GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING was held in Siletz on March 8, 1980. The meeting was
,$yZ^well attended, however most of the people were from outside the Siletz area.
O The Tribal Council presented an update on the Hunting and Fishing issue and the Reservation
00 Plan. Many of the tribal members present spoke on the issues. THIS IS IMPORTANT - OUR
TRIBAL COUNCIL WANTS YOUR INPUT!!!!
A General Council meeting, was held February 2, 1980. The highlights were the discussion of
the Reservation Plan and a report of the Hearings held in Washington, D.C. before the
P h Senate. Chairman Art Bensell, Vice Chairman Pauline Ricks and Council member Stanley Strong

testified on behalf of the Tribe. Their testimony was dynamic and they should be commended
* r-t for the time and effort that went into preparation and the testimony itself.

Y?“ , and has earned a record of 16 wins, 1 loss for the season. He wrestled
for McNary in the District Wrestling Tournament February 22, 23.

SILETZ TRIBAL MEMBER PRESIDENT OF INDIAN CLUB - Jeff Flagg was elected President of the
Chemeketa Community College Indian Club in Salem. He was also named runner-up for the
Mr. half of Mr. and Mrs. Chemeketa. Jeff is doing very well in college and gained a lot
of work experience during the summer, running the Siletz Summer Program at Chemawa school.
