Committal rites were held Monday, September 21 with arrangements entrusted to the Fuiten Mortuary of Vernonia. Mr. Vasey was born December 6, 1906 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late Charles and Isabel Grosser Vasey. As a small child he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he was raised and received his education. He graduated from high school in Cleveland and attended college for a time. In 1949 he moved to California where he worked in the entertainment industry as a vocal musician. In the early 1950’s he moved to1 Portland and in the late 1950’s he moved to Vernonia, living here until the time of his death. He was dedicated to protecting and caring for stray animals in the Vernonia area. Survivors include, two daughters; Carole Miller, Des Moines, Iowa and Judith Herbert, San Antonio, a sister; Roberta Farrow, Cleveland, Ohio, and six grandchildren.
