On July 8 the Mets won a tight one against Artistic Salon, 6-4. They won again on July 9 by a score of 19-11 over Frye’s in Forest Grove. APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION AND RESEARCH CENTER GOLF NEWS On June 26 eight couples played Mixed Couples golf at the Vernonia Golf and Country Club. The first place team was Joe Magoff and carol Bodenhamer while Rusty Tiedeman and Edna Hailey scored second place honors. On July 3 the Oregon Camper Glub joined with local golfers in some more Mixed Doubles action. Scoring first place honors among the 13 couples were Jan Huskey and Dan Fletcher.), second place was taken by Rose Loomis and Mike Grady while Ruth Nogle and Rusty Tiedeman walked away with third place. r R EMT1 CLASS SCHEDULED An Emergency Medical Technician I Class will be held in Hillsboro beginning August 17, 1981 and class times will be from J . pm to 10 pm Monday and Wednesday evenings. The class is Washington County EMS and Oregon State EMS approved and will be coordinated by Jimmie L. Floyd, EMT IV-Paramedic with Metro West Ambulance. The class will meet the Department of Transportation standard and provide inservice both on a paramedic ambulance and in the emergency department of Tuality Community Hospital. The class will also prepare those interested in being able to take the state and THE STATE AND/or national certification examinations. Upon completion of the necessary rehovation> the Center will be open t o the public and will, have; ; _ -7-Solar Collectors for water, and space heating ---Resource Library with technical manuals and self-help materials on appro priate energy technology. r --^Classroom Space for the.Head Start pre-school program and for community education presentations — -Office Space for C.A.T.’s H o m e W e a t h e r izationprogram — Workshop space, tools and equipment available to the public for production of home energy devices The Center offers substantial benefits for all community residents. Through the . Center’s classes and workshops, homeowners can learn about and build home energy equipment^ such as solar collectors, methane generators, small hydropower turbines- During renovation, training will be available for low income residents to become ^skilled solar technicians, valuable to the home building industry. Easinesses can use the Center to discover energy-efficient methods, such as heat pumps and co generation. To provide these services, we must compietly renovate the building. Walls must be .insulated and recovered. Plumbing and wiring must be improved. Materials are needed for the solar heating collectors.
