YBKM ROTH STEERS 409 ROSE VERNONIA OR 97064 HI * HI HI MHHHHHH BMMHMHHHH Mi 1-2 Cedar Side 25C freedom VOL 3 NO. 36 Thursday July 16,1981 Serving the Nehalem Valley Burglarized Early last Monday morning, some time between 3:15 and 5 am it is estimated, someone broke into the Cedar Side Tavern. While no point of entry was located the thief (or thieves) got away with a small night safe containing approximately $300, a full box of frozen shrimp, a Miller tap beer handle and all of the various keys to the premises. The owners, Rose and Ray Foster, speculate that the keys were stolen so the safe might be easily and quickly opened. The thief, however, overlooked the safe key, hanging in plain sight, and made off with all of the rest of the keys apparently in the mistkaen belief that the safe key was with the others. “I would gladly trade the safe key for the rest of the keys that were taken,” says Rose. “But I expect it is too much to ask that anyone come forward with them.” While no arrests have been made, and police officials as yet have no hard suspects, the investigation is continuing. Mother of Year will ride in special Jamboree float Vernonia businesses-remodeled, rebuilt & brand new ROSE AND RAY FOSTER— Owners of Cedar Side Tavern are proud to announce that their remodeling is virtually complete and that the newly expanded kitchen and restaurant are in full swing. ALICE RANDALL— It’s taken four years, since the old Timbernook burned to the ground, but the new restaurant, on the same site, is open for business. The Oregon Mother of the Year, Mabel Bodie, will be riding with this year's float sponsored by the local Pair-a-Tykes club, according to Mary Lou Busch, the organization’s president. Bodie, a Portland resident, is a past president of the Portland club and was nominated for the prestigious Mother of the Year award by the local organization, Busch, a Mist resident, says. The Pair-a-Tykes club is affiliated with the Mothers of Twins Club in Portland and exists to serve as a clearing house of information on the special challenges of raising twins, and as a forum for the parents of twins to use in exchanging helpful information between themselves.
