Thursday June 11,1981 GIRLS SOFTBALL MEETING An organizational meeting and practice for girls aged 11 and 12 interested in summer softball is scheduled for Monday, June 15 at 6 pm, behind Washington Grade School. For more information call 429-2855. LADIES GOLF Twelve ladies played golf Tuesday night, June 2. At the end of play partners were drawn from a pot. The winning combination of Joyce Johnson and Carol Bodenhammer had low score. Greg Brown then gave a talk on golf rules.Penalties, out of bounds, hazards and such were discussed as well as some of the basic rules of courtesy on the golf course. Vernonia Freedom—Page 5 Fair's future theme of CoiCo shindig “The Future Of Our Fair” is the theme selected by the Fair Board for the 1981 Columbia County Fair planned for July 29 through August 1. He was bom January 14,1963 the son of Royce and Ruby (Thacker) Newton, former residents of Vernonia. Donald had a continuing love for Alaska and the outdoors. He crowded a lot of living in his life, showing eagerness for learning and interest in everything around him. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, skier, and a great collector of friends. At the time of his death, he was attending Bartlett High School and working at a job to learn carpentry. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss ths budget Budget Committee. A summary of the budget is presented below. A copy of the budget may be inspected or obtained free of FAMILY VISITS Donald Dwayne Newton 1fl 81 Governing Body at7«30 pm_ Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Gnat of Roseburg spent Saturday and Sunday visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clair Divine. They also visited her brother Rick Devine and family and her grandmother Ellen Devine. While here they helped Rick celebrate his birthday. Einier Danielson of Forest Grove also spent several days visiting his sister Ellen Devine. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Oblack gave a dinner Tuesday evening to surprise their daughter Kimberly on her ninth birthday and for their son Larry Jr. in honor of his graduation from the eighth grade. Those attending the dinner were Mrs. Mike Bush and family, Mrs. Bob Tovey and children, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Carter, Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Gaffney, Don Kabler of Corvallis, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Holding and Mr. and Mrs. Max Oblack. Two beautiful decorated cakes were served to the guests for the occasion. mnent includes the Ridge Runners, the Sweet Adelines, the Chordsmen, aeorbic dance demonstrations, a Run For Fun and a Teen Dance. The 4-H horse classes will be held on July 27 and 28, prior to the fair. A few spaces are still available for outside booths. PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT by Bertha Oblack weaving demonstrations, a draft horse pulling contest, Shetland Pony Roman Chariot races, the Shriner’s calliope and a mechanical “bull” for aspiring cowboys and cowgirls. * Displays will include antique farm equipment and an Oregon Air National Guard communications display.
