Although none were chosen by the zoo, we think each and every one is a winner. Turtle, Turtle Why do you hide? You pull your legs And head inside Sears Where to conveniently find May home fix-up values A MONKEY THE ANTELOPE THE TURTLE by Roxanna Leigh Hanneman BY Jackie Scott by Darrell Gamroth There sits a monkey high up in a tree, Putting on a show for all of us to see. He swings low.... and then he swings high. Then regretfully, we have to say goodbye. My favorite"animal at the zoo, Is the graceful antelope If he had to race, He’d easily win. When it rains, He still gallops away He stops to take a rest But he can’t delay, So he’s off trotting again. Oh! Turtle, Turtle Why are you so slow? Why do you carry your home everywhere you go? And why are you so frightened of us. THE CHEETAH by Jackie Price by Kenny Russell The Koala Bear sits and stares at all the people there. He seldom moves, but when he does, * he slowly glides through the Eucalyptus tree lunching on the leaves. The people like him very much, because he’s so cute and loveable. 805 Bridge St. 429-8172 toplace an order Sears SEARS. ROEBUCK ANO CO. Poor Zebras THE SEAL The Cheetah stands very proud. As he prances around. And when he spies prey. He scampers across the field, Quickly he pounces on it, And chomps his dinner down. The cheetah is my best friend. - The rabbit^say he is mean. The birds say the same, As the cheetah runs across African plains. by Billy Jaques MONKEYS He has only two wings But he can’t fly He is Black and white And he’s only three feet in hieght And he swims like a seal in the night The seal swims around, You’d think he’s gonna drown, He swims through the water, And looks similar to an otter, And he never wears a frown. He eats fish every day. And he gulps them down, In a peculiar way , And when he’s through, He glares at you As if saying “more, more”. So remember, When you go to the zoot There will be a seal, Waiting for you. by Debby Mailer GRIZZLY BEAR When I go to the zoo, I pass right bye the other animals I go strait to see the monkeys. He swings from tree to tree. I really wonder what he thinks of me. I’ll bet he wonders why I go to the zoo to look at him by Dori Bernardi by Wendy Linstad You can count on ZEBRAS by Susan Jackson THE KOALA BEAR KOALA Phone Turtle, Turtle Why are you so slow? You walk and walk But you hardly go Turtle, Turtle What a shell you’ve got In the winter you are warm But in the summer aren’t you hot? A Koala will cling to a tree to sit and chomp on the leaves. She will soak up the warmth of the summer sun. Koala, your fur looks so soft and silky in the summer sun. Koala the way you carry your young in your pouch looks neat but I can’t understand how you carry that kid from tree to tree. THE PENGUIN by Fred Donegan I love that grizzly bear. He’s the most gigantic one of all. Because of all his funny tricks everyone laughs at him. I love that grizzly with all that fuzzy hair. SLIPPY THE SEAL by Denise Shirley THE SEAL Slippy enjoys the watar, He jumps in and out all day. Slippy plays king of the mountain With his other seal friends. Slippey glares at the people, He wonders who they are. But Slippy does not want the people to go home Good-by Slippy by Ellen Flanders THE SEAL by Mary Ann Dickinson The seals nose is pointed. And he rolls a ball on it. He flips around, When he does tricks. You slip and you slide you flip and you flop. You swin and skim, from bottom to top. And then you slip to the brim, Kerplop! He jumps in and out of the seal pool. Before he eats he slaps his belly and begs. And when he gets it he begs for more. He plays king of the mountain, with the other seals. He does tricks for the people in the zoo watching.
