The available 1980 census data is insufficient for the agency’s use. So, in preparing, n ext year’s work plan, com m unity action m ust rely on population statistics that are out of date or inadequate. The results of this survey will describe the current characteristics of the county’s residents and those issues that -they feel are important in their community. With this knowledge, CAT can plan effective and efficient programs that meet the needs of the citizens it serves. The information requested from each 'survey will be used for statistical purpsoes only and w ill remain confidential. Respondents do not need to put their names on the survey. Dorothy White, a representative from the Vernonia Senior Center will be available to promote and co-ordinate the distribution and return of surveys. If residents have questions about the survey, they can also call 397-4000 for more details. County clerk heads statewide committee During August, the Community Action Team (CAT) of Columbia County will be conducting a needs assessment survey of the county. Within the next two weeks, Reta C. Kerry, Columbia County Clerk, the agency will be mailing surveys to every boxholder of all city and rural w as appointed Chairman of the Legislative Committee for the County Clerks Association of Oregon at the 68th Annual Convention held at the Holiday Inn in Wilsonville, Oregon. To assist Reta, the following persons were named: Sue Proffit, County Clerk of Wasco County; Maxine Foster, County Clerk of Josephine County; Shirley L.. Bolin, County Clerk of Union County; June Wagner, County Clerk of Tillamook County; Delbert W. A Mothers of Twins Club is currently being organized in Columbia and northw est .Multnomah Counties. A ll mothers of twins in these areas are encouraged to call Lynnda Fuller, 543- 7086 or Jenny Sextion, 397-6296. The club will be affiliated with the Northwest Association of Mothers of Twins Clubs and will have objectives similar to those of other twins clubs: 1. To exchange ideas that will benefit all members. 2. To exchange twin clothing and equipment. 3. To meet and share social activities. 4. To encourage individuality of twins. 6. To increase the awareness of the special needs of each singleton child who is in daily competition with multiple birth children. Best Again this year, persons planning to attend the Oregon State Fair August 23 - September 1, can save money and support Oregon’s 4-H program by buying their tickets in advance. According to Ron Campbell, Executive Director, the Oregon 4-H Foundation has an exclusive arrangement with the State Fair to sell $3 admission tickets for $2.50. The foundation will receive 50 cents from each ticket sold. Tickets will go on sale about August 1 at Oregon Fred Meyer stores and at County offices of the Oregon- State University Extension Service.
