This month also mark« th e first anniver- i «ary o f the present publishers who ! purchased the T im es last August. The T im es was established in 1909, with J. A. Hart its first editor. It 1s a coincidence that one of its first subscribers w as a visitor in W l- larnna this week from San Diego. Mrs. M.A. N icol, w ho is looking after property in terests in W illam ina and is a house g u est o f Mrs. R. H. Mul len, recalls that sh e and her fam ily were am ong the first one« to sign a petition favoring the establishm ent of a new spaper here when Mr. Hart was considering th e proposition in 1909. Their subscription began with the very first issu e, she said, and they had been constant subscribers ever since. D ell Land, Portland, has been engaged to h andle th e new h ea tin g plant. Altho school will not begin u ntil Septem ber 15, Mr. P arsons is plan ning to call th e fa cu lty to g eth er for its first m eetin g Septem ber 11. The school building has been cleaned and repaired and a new p ar tition has been placed, sep aratin g th e library from th e stu d y h all. J. C. Ramey, grade school princi pal is expected to arrive Monday, and has rented the N icol house, form erly occupied by Mr. and Mrs . M elvin D uggan. T he sta ff o f teachers is com plete, J. A. Matocha, chairm an of the school board said. Mr. M atocha said th e new class room s provided by the quonset hut building now being erected w ould be ready for school w hen it started . The com pany putting them up prom ised com pletion in nine days. The school buildings have been cleaned and r e paired and the floors are being re- finished.
