M. PETERSEN ADVISES
PORTLAND FRIEND ON
PHYSICAL CONDITION
A friend of mine of Portland com­
plained to me. He said, "Petersen, 1
am fretting old, although 1 am only
55 years old.” He looked flabby,
sure. 1 told him. “George, you will
have to stop drinking. The way you
look you are putting on too much
weight." I said to him.“ When you
get up in the morning, get down on
the floor and roll over half a dozen
times, then get up, stamp your feet,
bend over, bend over and touch your
tees half a dozen times, then take a
hot ha»h following with cold water
rubbing, all before breakfast, so he
d d. Next time I saw him. I says,
"George, you surely look good.”
He says. “I feel better following
your advice.”
Talmer Lens had visitors, so did
W. S. Lauthers have company.
Melvin Wilson went to Taft Sun­
day.
W. A. Osborn of Newberg called
Sunday. He wanted a home to raise
m i n k s . Mr. Osborn was born at
Grand Ronde. His stepfather. Mr.
Stem, lives at Newberg. They aie
bo»»> working for the WPA.
Melvin Wilson went to stay with
his mother in her cabin at Taft.
Rett Parvell of the Standard Oil
Co. from McMinnville was inspecting
rest rooms of James and Lambert at
New Grand Ronde.
Wild blackberries are one dollar
per gallon.
Westly Reiback of Portland is visit­
ing his aunt. Mxs. Clara Riggs. He
is a cousin of Orin White. He loves
thia beautiful country. His mother
was Adeline Robinson before she
married Mr. Reiback.
The confederated Indian tribe of
Grand Ronde has elected at their
business council two new members,
Abe Hudson and Julius Mercer, none
being terminated, an election was
held to elect new members. Edgar
Simmons was elected chairman and
Arin White vice-chairman for the
Grand Ronde business committee of
Indian bureau.
Joe Polp fami’y had a surprise
visit Sunday of his daughters and
grandchildren of P o r t l a n d and
Marshfield.
Ralph Uglow’s new house had a
hardwood floor laid by a Portland
firm of which Melvin Wilson is a
stockholder.
M. Petersen counted 16 apples on
a limb 18 inches long in his garden.
An animal is born with all of the
wisdom necessary for its life.
Mrs. Laura Potter, her nephew, H.
Potter. Mr. and Mrs. F. Moe and
daughter called on Petersen for him
to show them the land Mr. Potter
bought from the county. Had a fine
lunch at Camp Pleasant. They are of
Silverton. Mr. Potter is a candidate
for county commissioner of Lane
county.
