They came on Sunday and left
on Wednesday.
Mr. Louis Krisak, a mainten
ance man for the U.S. Weather
Bureau installed a new cable
on the wind indicator at th e
Brookings station of the U.S.
Weather Bureau last Saturday.
This was necessitated by partial
destruction of the old cable by
parties unaware of the im port
ance of the cable.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin (Sonny)
Chanman and two children return
ed home Friday from a two
weeks trip to Farmington, New
Mexico where they visited Mr.
Chapman's family. They report
that Farmington is a booming
town due to being in the uranium
mining country.

Ernest Foster left Tuesday for
Medford and than planned to go
on from there to Athena, near
Pendleton to work in a stud mill
being operated there by Glen
McKay and his son.

Mr. and Mrs. Ferdie Stein
metz and five children and Mr.
and Mrs. Gary Wimberly and
five children, and Diana, Sharor
and Alan Bowlin went to Crate,
Lake on a camping trip this
weekend, and arrived home on
Sunday night.

Howard Wallace returned home
last week from Portland where
he visited and did some ceramic
tile work.

LETTER TO EDITOR:
This committee is happy to
report the following items. In
the last year we have paid off
debts against the building down
to $642.12. Principal amounts
due are Roy Weideman, $440,51.
Kerr Hdw. $123.62 and Brook
ings Machine Shop $77.96.
The balance in bank is $121.9£
which is on hand for nails and
to pay lights, water, etc.
All plumbing is in, and fixtures
are on hand to be put in as soon
as the rooms are sealed in with
plywood. We have six rooms
to seal in--kitchen, offices, lav-
atorys, lockers, and cloakroom.
Fixtures and plywood on hand
is all paid for. All is neeed
is all paid for. All is needed
right now is volunteer help in
nailing the plywood up.
This building is for use by the
Girl and Boy Scouts of Brookings,
and Harbor. According to the
deed to land by Mr. Ward King,
the building can be used ONLY
by Boy and Girl Scouts (and of
course, all Scouting Committees
too).
Now, for past eight y e a r s
Sponsoring organizations have
tried to build this building. All
money, m aterials and labor has
been made possible by th e s e
Brookings-Harbor clubs, w ith
there projects, calling on general
public help. All this has been
done with one idea in mind—a
meeting place for all Brookings
Harbor Girl and Boy Scouts.
More money, m aterials, labor
plus more public support is need
ed to finish this building for local
Scout use. This committee, made
up of members of all organiz
ations, wish to thank all for the
support on this project so far.
