He said that if the bond issue was approved the the residents could eliminate some of their current $2 sewer assessm ent, which is paid monthly. Both the assessm ent and the bond would pay for the same thing. The advantages in the bond would be to get the work done next year, instead of the many years that the assessm ent would cover. Besides, Campbell pointed out that the Federal Government would give the city $33, 000 to help with the project. The city has to build its own treatm ent site, according to the state board of health. It was decided that nothing should be done at the time on the m atter, except to look into it further. THESE FOUR \OUTHS REPRESENTED Curry County at the Youth Range camp near Heppner, Oregon. The weather during the past week has definitely favored the grower, lumberman and tourist. Warm nights, little wind, and early morning partial c lo u d coverage with relatively high humidity , plus moonlight on the water for the young at heart. With many people of this area traveling elsewhere during the sum m er, the weather of Brook ings is indeed nice to come home to. Aug. Max. Min. Several persons called the Pilot to re port them. Nobody seems to know anything about them, othei than they were lights. Several people saw lights at about this time last year, also. These current ones seemed to be heading from land out o v e r the ocean. PLANS ious chamber activities for the preceding year, indicating that the Chamber had suecessfullj sponsored an outstanding Azalea Festival this year, and has seen the culmination of years of effort on the part of all the local and coastal groups in the recent bond issue for the improvement of highw ay 101 between Brookings and Gold Beach. Another project that the Brook ings Chamber has been actively interested in for some time, the Chetco River mouth jetty, also is well on its way to completion here.
