George F u n k returned this week from a trip that took them to Chicago, then to Kenosha, W ise, where they picked up a new ca r , then to Minnesota, then up to Winnipeg, Canada. The Funk’s traveled all the way a cro ss Canada, with stop overs at Lake Louise and Ban- iff, plus a trip on the Ice fields before returning home. The form ation of a Junior bowling league for Brookings la now underway. Bowling will be held at 10 a .m . Saturday m orn ings for the you ngsters. No age lim it la being s e t, and any youth old enough to lift a bowling ball is w elcom e to participate. The registration for the p ro gram will be held on August 17, while the league rolling won’t start until O ctober. The first w eeks will be devoted to in struction, which will be provided free by those Interested in giving the kids an opportunity to learn a sport. Adult supervision will be p ro vided at all tim es for the young k e g le r s. Some sponsors h a v e al ready agreed to sponsor team s. More sponsors may be needed (depending upon the turn out at the registration, and the Interest shown by the bow lers. As c la s s e s will be formed' to provide instruction, those who haven’t had any experience a r e w lecom e. Those interested are asked to phon«* 3584 or the bowling alley for further information. Mr. and M rs. Alfred Mlkkel sen of Brookings announced the engagem ent of their daughter, E lsie, who has been living In San F rancisco for the la st few y ea r s. She will wed Robert P ohl, son of M rs. E .A . Pohl of Portland. He Is also a San Francisco r e s ident. i h e b rid e-elect attended the University of Oregon, and is a m em ber of Pl Beta Phi. RETURNS------LEAVES Allen Kerr arrived home Sat urday from the National Boy Scout Jamboree In Valley Forge, and left Sunday for a camping trip at Camp S iltcoos.
