Leland Lewis, logging contrac­
tor, form erly of Brookings and re­
cently living in Redway, Calif.,
passed aw ay in A storia, Oregon
after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife,
K atherine, his dau g h ters Ja n e and
B arbara and son Don.

House kitchen was a new V ulcan
broiler, under G erio u x ’s direction.
It is the only one of its kind in
this p art of the country. His
specialty is sauces and soup and
meats.
Bids for the construction of two

couple of factors which may cause
them to miss this target date. But.

pect the call for bids to be very

on the project should sta rt very
shortly after the date for opening
the bids, it was believed by the
group.
The Port Commission m et F ri­

bid call.
The Commission also adopted a
resolution, printed elsew here in
this issue o f the Pilot, com m end­
ing attorney Ed Ackley for the
tim e and effort he has put into
the P ort of Brookings. The Com­
mission has appointed attorney
Sam Hall to serve as th eir legal
counsel.
Local Post Office
Sets New Hours
Postm aster Bill Thom pson a n ­
nounced th at the window hours of
the Brookings postoffice would be
changed because of a lopped post-
office budget. He said th a t i n
o rd er to cut down clerk hours,
the windows would be open from
9 a m to 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m.
to 12 noon on S aturdays. C u rren t­
ly the window s open at 8 a m. and
are open until 5:30 p.m.

would be as Is. The new hours
