Brookings-Harbor Pilot Thursday, February 7, 1957 Brookings Items Robert Bowlin arrived home S aturday after a three and a half y ea r stint w orking for Uncle Sam F irst he was in the service, then w ent to Munich, G erm any twenty- one m onths ago on a civilian duty status. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L W. Bowlin who live on th e W inchuck River. Mrs. Adrien H otfeldt really celebrated her birthday right this year w ith four groups of friends rem em bering the occassion. On Sunday, she an 1 her husband, S appy, w ere guests at a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H erbert Payne at noon. On Monday, her birthday, w ith tne contrivance of her husband, she was com pletely sui prised to have a dinner pre pared in her honor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Verden Wheeler. L ater the same evening, Mr. and Mrs. O D. A rp appeared on the scene w ith a beautifully decorated birthday cake. To round out the celebrating, Mr. and Mrs. Hof- feldt are invited to atten d the VFW crab feed this F riday even ing by other irien d s. Ernest Foster of W imer spent the week end here at the home of his brother, Milton, and looked after his property. His son, Geo rge, who is stationed w ith the arm y in the bay area, arriv ed a l so on F riday night and visited u n ' up to Brookings Sunday from til Sunday, staying one of the S anta B arb aia, C a.iforn a for a nights at the home of Mr. and ! short visit w ith Mr A sk’s mother, Mrs. F G ustafson. They w ere ac Mrs. H ow ard Ray. Mrs. Ralph K eiser and g ran d com panied by Mrs. A sk's m other. daughter, Teresa, spent a few Mis. 1 ia DeMoss. Mrs. C arrie Miller retu rn ed to days last week in P ortland visit ing at the home of her son, Ted her home in Walla Walla, W ash Keiser. They m ade the trip north ington Sunday • vening afte r con by th e coast route, and retu rn ed ducting a very instructive school by the Pacific highw ay. While in for Sunday school teachers at th< P ortland they attended the b alL , Ja p tist Com m unity church.
