purpose of hearing justified complaints about the pro
posed reassessments of sewer districts 2, 4, and 7. Tues
days meeting was held for the purpose of answering
these complaints. It seems that at neither one of these
meetings the people of our city were represented by their
elected officers.
The “hot potato” of objections was passed between
the city engineer, the city attorney, and low and behold,
the top man on the totem pole, the consulting engineer.

the plans for the sewer system, these same consulting en

system of sewage disposal would be used. Now. the
song has a different tune. Pumps and complicated
changing of existing plumbing will have to be used by a
few to help, as one councilman stated “pay for the rest
of the system.”
Why a few, who had justice flaunted in their face
and the right to appeal to their governing bodv made a
mockery, have to pay more than their share of a SPEC

The city council, mayor, and the highly paid city-
officials, plus the consulting engineer, to a man, contend
that thgy made no mistake in setting up the various as
sessment districts. It is our con tension that anyone can
make a mistake.

It’s all over hut the shouting and the pushing of pea

In winding it all up we would like to k the first to
call for a round of band shaking. In other words—lets

Politics in this country are unique in many ways, but
the happiest note about them is the general ability to
forgive and forget the name calling, and hair Pu ‘ing.
Democrats and Republicans become just “neighbors

regardless of the heat of the campaign—the only right
thing to do is to turn to your recent antagonist and pump
his hand up and down. Eor the next few years your <»p
