Dr. Brown attended. Accordionists Entertain band of local girls are building quite a rep u tatio n lor them selves under th e direction of Dave Cro ck ett, th eir teacher, in supplying harm ony to group«, w ith their ac cord ¡ans. The girls recently gave an hour long recotal to M adrone Encam pm ent No. 135, IOOF and are scheduled to play lor K lam ath Lodge, C rescent C ity on the eve ning of A ugust 2 to which the public is invited. The principals ’ of th e group are Linda Vernon, Cheryl Boder- ham er, Alio? Sm ith, Mary Ann Longaere, Naomi Sanders, Joy Salm on and Lu Ella Joy. There a re several o th ers in C ro ck e tt’s classes who som etim es also play w ith the group. Since the heat wave started , out in the Valley over 100,00 tu r keys have died, many of them al most ready lo r m ark et. H erders say the tu rk s left (he shade, got out into the sun, ran around in circles and died. LOOK! I ~ The annual m eeting of the Chetco L ibrary Association w as W ednesday, Ju ly 18 a t the library. New officers for the coming year were elected. Mrs. A rth u r Knox is replacing Mrs. E rm a Rice as chairm an of the board, Mrs. J a mes Kline replaces Mrs. E arl Simpson as vice chairm an, and Mrs. M yrtle S chaal will continue in her post as secretary . Mrs. E rm a Rice w as elected to the post of treasu rer, she replaces Mrs. Q uart? Goldizen. The assoc iation tru ste es are Mrs. Arthur- Knox, Jack M cCarton and Mrs. Jim F orerst. A com m ittee w as appointed to rep o rt on the advisibility of let ting the library corporation d is solve when it expires a t the end of the year. T he library corpora tion had to lie established in order for the library to receive the land g ran t for building. Now th at Brookings has become incorporat ed the library has become a p a n of the city and the lib rary corpor ation is not necessary as previ ously. T he com m ittee will also discuss the possibilities of reduc tion of Association dues which are now $2.50 a year. - X ' - H » ■ - r •: Rev.
