ed at a stork shower Monday
evening, the 11th. at the horn?
of Mrs. Ronald Pearson, in the
Dimmick s Apartment. Hostesses
for the event were Mesdames
O. Bieberdorf and Pearson. Mrs.
Hawes received many nice and
useful gifts. Mrs. Sabin was the
winner of the door prize and
others were won by Mrs. Charles
Sabin, Mrs. James Barrett, Mrs.
Aron Sjostrom and Mrs. Dawes.

The annual meeting of the
Chetco Library Association has
been set for Wednesday, July
18th. At this meeting there w ill
be an election of officers of the
association and a revision of the
by-laws suggested. The suggest­
ed change is to have board
meetings take place just before
meetings of the city council so
business may be bet tier trans­
acted.

ure was the proposed acquisition
of an encyclopedia, details of
w’hich may soon be worked out.
Mrs. M. S. Brainard, librarian,
reported a considerable increase
for scholars and the board gave

car check-ins to the state of Cal­
ifornia. May 1936 as against May
of 1955. T h irty thousand less
cars entered this year, during
May, than last year. There were
more trucks passing into the
state in the same month of 1956
than there were in 1955. but tne
total passengers entering the
Sunshipe State fell from some
924.000 in May of '55 to 834.000
this past May. This makes 90.000
less passengers into the state
and the greatest drop was in
those who went in California
licensed cars some 73,000.
