Not until a fte r she had transfusions from W ayne Bolvi and George M urray, did she find out it was m ade available to her, in her need, and no cost, through the thoughtfulness of over 1,000 ¡xrople, typed about th ree .w ars ago, m any of whom re g ^ te re d th eir w illingness to he called upon for w hole blood trunsfusions. This w as a project of the Ladies A uxiliary, V ete ran s of Foreign W ars, w ith the assistance of the R otary Club, and the typing being done by Dr. Ed Sam uels. It has proven very beneficial, m any times. W ISCONSIN AND BACK Mrs. Peggy Noel and son Charles, m ade a visit back to th eir old home n ea r G reen Itay, Wisconsin, and cam e back to Brookings. They made the trip by train . CITY MANAGER The City of Toledo, at the re cent election, voted, by 598 to 253, for a new, stream lined ch a r ter, replacing the o n ? that had been in use since 1922. A por tion of the c h a rte r included ern- p lo jin g a city manager, to work under the council. This job has been filled, a m anager being hired a t a salary of $8.100. He will not only act as city m ana ger but as a city engineer. Continued im provem ent is noted on the N orth Bank Chetco Road. W hile portions of it still aren’t all th a t should lx* desired, the work is progressing and it is already far b etter than it was just a few years ago.
