MINCER’S JEWELRY has been operated by a new owner since February 22nd of this year. “The King Is Dead, Long Live THE King” is the cheer that describes the continuety of the empire. So with Mincer’s Jewel ry, Mrs. Mincer sold and Lee and Anna Willoughby carry on. Willoughby is a veteran jew- eler of 20 years. He*brought his family here from Cody, Wyoming where he had operated his own store for 4 years before selling out late last fall. Besides work ing in jewelry' stores he had been in the business 11 years in the Newport Beach area of South ern California. lie does not Tiesitate to invite business requiring an expert in the field. Prior to the long years of experience he had a back ground of technical education, lie first attended the University of Wyoming and finished otf with a technical course of 2 years at Bradley Institute in Peoria, Illinois. They didn't find anything wrong with the C of C’s description of the place and when they found what they wanted for sale, they decided to plant their feet .here to stay. “Quite a relief from the 40 de grees below in Wyoming” Mr Wiloughby is quoted as saying. The Mincer’s Jewelry’ stoi was started from scratch by Mr> Virginia Mincer in March < 1952. Albert Mincer is one of the original stockholders in the Brookings Plywood Corporation. Mr's. Mincer is one of those wom en so typical of modern Amer ican housewives. She has ability and a taste of business exper ience and yet retains the desire, most of all, to make a home. up with the times in that field. They like Brookings, have their home here and can think of nothing else but staying here and working here. BEAVER STATE L O D G E MOTEL at the South end of town is a 10 unit modern court with car ports. James E. and Irene Koeller purchased the court last November. Mrs Koel ler is the principal one around there because Mr. Koeller is pretty well engaged at the Koel ler Cabinet Shop at Wharf and King Streets. The Koellers came to Brook ings December 9, 1945 and he opened the cabinet shop early in 1956. He had been foreman of cabine work for the Navy at Willamete Iron and Steel for a number of years The couple have an 11 year old daughter, Kathleen Ann. in the grade school. She gets to help her mother around the court after school.
