MUNCY'S MEAT , LIBRARY NEWS — A lady recently computed the value of the books she and her family borrowed from the local library in one month, and they added up to over $200. This fam ily has two memberships in the association, which cost them 2.50 for the year, so she considers, from a business view^xiint, at least, that it is a very good in vestment. There was a slight falling off in circulation during April al though loan records were broken one day w hen 90 books were bor rowed. Over 2,000 books have been ciculated since the first of the year, exceeding, by far, the same period a year ago. At Monday night’s board meet ing it was decided to push work on the grounds, now that the weather has moderated and the soil dried out. One of the most necesary projects will be paint ing the exterior. Several new shelves are also urgently needed. EMBARRASSED! ‘‘We Are Embarrassed” begins a letter from Sidney King, Dir ector of Public Relations, of the State Motor Association, in reply to a letter from the PILOT. A circular from the association out lined a topic of one Motorlog as being obaut ocean fishing from Astoria to Gold Beach. A por tion of the letter reads, "They do not understand your reference to the ‘downright shameful’ con dition of 101 from Gold Beach to Brookings.’’ They will be en lightened on this and invited to come and endure it.
