sessor, announced to the Pilot
that he is not a candidate for
county assessor, and that he is
supporting George Sutton for
that post.
Gauntlett said that rumor had
reached him regarding writing
in his name for assessor, but he
was emphatic in denying that he
was seeking *he po«t.
Sutton did not file. However,
Gauntlett said that he is support
ing Sutton ‘‘since iw* is the one
man with the necessary exper
ience to carry on the work of the
assessor's office during the per
iod of property « ‘-appraisal. The
work on this reappraisal is just
now beginning and will hr con
ducted jointly by the county and
the state.»’
He said further that "Mr. Sut
