FOR WHAT
IT'S WORTH
By C lifford P. Rowe
A pparently the conscientious
and long-suf faring citizens of th"
s ta te of O regon are finally going t»
get a long need relief. L egislators
finally seeing the light, are m ov
ing tow ard advancing the date foi
prim ary elections from April up t<
A ugust.
F or those of us who becam e th o r
oughly fatigued and nauseate»
du rin g last y e a r’s political cam p
aign, this move is definitely in th
rig h t direction. Such a changt
should be welcom ed by the legis
la to r desiring to run for reflection
or th e p o tential new com er to th*
(xilitical arena.
Most of us h ive long felt that to
s ta rt cam paigning for the prim ary
in Ja n u a ry , to continue filling the
a ir and th e press until the Apri
contest, and then to c a rry on until
the N ovem ber general elections
rolled around was p u ttin g cam p
aigning on practically a year
around basis.
Not only w as it
tough on th e office seeker but -t
w as also discouraging for the vo
